1 more week!

We are leaving for Bass Lake 1 week from today. I am so excited. We are getting things ready, making lists, cleaning the boat, washed the dog (he doesn't go with us though), and trying not to throw my kids away when they are acting like animals. OMG, they are driving this mama nuts right now....ahhhhhhh!

Okay, I am back, they are crazy I tell ya. Anyway, it is SO hard to stick to my diet when I know that in a week I am going to be able to splurge here and there. My father in law and I already made up a menu for dinners and lunches and most of it is entirely SBD friendly, so I am okay there. We do have a few things planned that I can eat around but I do not plan on being an angel. I have been saying from the beginning---"there is no beachin it at the lake" LOL

Jack is in the back of the house by himself, being quite quiet---so I better go check on the little bugger. I hope all is well with everyone. Especially Steph and Stacy who have sick ones at home.

Slow Day...not for me

Is it just me or does Thursday just crawl by? We have been to the store, come home and done laundry and cleaned up the rooms a bit. Now we are just waiting toi pick up Aunica. Then Jack will nap and Aunica will play and then we will just wait again for daddy to come home. Grandma and Grandpa will come over tonight and grandpa is helping Ken with servicing the boat (oil and fuel filter changes and stuff like that). Grandma will be sitting in the air conditioning just soaking up the coolness. It is about 83 degrees in the house right now but I am holding out until 85 before turning on the air because I am trying to conserve the energy a bit. Probably a lost cause at this point though.

I watched project runway last night and was so dissapointed that they kicked off Katherine and NOT that freako skittles chick. I hated her dress and she is a total loon. I can't wait to see who exactly is the one to be the 1st designer kicked off the show (for reasons other than losing the challenge). Should be interesting, at least more intersting that this boring blog entry :)

Wednesday at Lemon Park

Today we met a bunch of playgroup friends at this cool park in Fullerton. The kids LOVED the water spouts. There were a good amount of kids but everyone was having a good time. We had to leave because Jack was ready for a nap, but Aunica could have played there all day if I had let her. We came home around 1 and Jack fell asleep when we were about halfway home. He napped until 3:30 when I woke him up to go to my sisters house to swim. We swam until 5 and then came home where I made a "picnic" dinner for the kids and my sister. She stayed with the kids while I went out for sushi with my Father-in-Law. We are the cooks at our annual family vacation to Bass Lake, so we went to dinner to decide on a menu. Eat out 4 nights and cook 3 nights LOL

I got home at 8 and now I have the kids laying on the couches watching TV trying to get them to settle down for bed.

I am pooped. The heat today drained me I think. It was hot at Lemon park but not unbearable.

Long time, no type

It has been awhile since my last entry I guess. We have been busy bees around here. We are almost done with the back of the house, but the best is that it is livable again. I have moved a lot of stuff back to where it belongs and the house isn't quite the pit it had become.

Today we had Steph and Amelia over to play while Aunica was at school and we had a good time. Jack doesn't like to share but he is learning. I think it is good for him to have to share his stuff and be with the littlest bittiest girl. But boy, she will definitely let him know when he pisses her off. Amelia (which he says darn good) screams at him and he knocks her over and she screams at him some more. It's kinda cute, but we run interference sometimes, so that the big monster Jack doesn't hurt Amelia.

As for the weight issue. I am still doing south beach, but ever since Thursday, I have been on a food bender. Today I am back on track, but it seems like everything dealing with food (MNO, parties, BBQ's with family) all happen in spurts. I had ice cream, sushi, sodium filled food, some candy and then last night was a birthday party at Chuck's and I had a salad and a slice of cheese pizza. I am hoping that I can get back on track for the next week and a half before my trip so I can lose another 2-3 pounds before I go. If not, I am fine with that too. BUT we all know that I have only until the day after x-mas (my 31st birthday) to lose the final 40 or so pounds...so after my vacation, Stephs return from Oregon and Stacy is all done with her 6 week post pardum stuff it is time to get at the real exercise program and eating plan. Well, I guess I will be good with just another 30 pounds but 40 sounds better to me at this point. I have time to reevaluate.

Tuesday Rants

It is a fine Tuesday here in Orange County. It's hot and humid but I am in the comfort of my air conditioned house. I finally went shopping and found a bathingsuit---actually 2, but I don't love either of them. They are okay and will fit the purpose of not having to swim in my birthday suit. I have lost weight, but not that much. I also bought the kids some stuff for our trip---color wonder sets so I don't have to worry about them marking up the rental house while we are staying there. Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel---you know, not happy and not unhappy...just kinda there? That is me today. I want my freind Steph to move down closer to me, and I am not sure why. I mean she comes down here twice a week for playgroup and walking, and once Aunica is in school I can drive up her way. I guess I just like things to be close. Michelle is out there too...and stacy too. All of my friends that I like to hang with are out in the boonies. Anything more than 10 minutes is the boonies to me LOL

Tomorrow Aunica has a walking fieldtrip to Dino's Pizza and I am going with her and her class. Ken and I always discussed that this was the exact reason I am staying home. So I can be there for all their feildtrips and be a room mom and all of that. The stuff my mom was unable to do, that Ken's mom loved doing. Another reason is because Ken is very protective and wants someone (either me or him) with her if she is leaving the safety of the school. Next year when she is in kindergarten, they will have many trips that I will go on because the school is exempt from the carseat laws and she is just too small to be riding in the van without her booster, so I will drive and she will ride in my car. My in laws will have Jack on those days.

On Thursday we are getting our carpet. They should be here between 8 am and 11 am and I can't wait. Ken is supposed to come home and put the kids beds together and I will be cleaning some toys that will be moved into their room. Of course there are certain toys that will stay in the living room that they both play with and get played with a lot during playgroups.

Carpet news Finally!!!

So, I called Home Depot on Friday and they said they would contact the installer for me. On Friday evening (of course when I was not home), they called to set up an appointment for the installation. I called back this morning and after being on hold for what seemed like an eternity---we have a scheduled install date. This Thursday between 8 am and 11 am they will be here to install the carpet. YAY So by Friday's the back of the house should be have new carpet and maybe a couple new beds assembled. We have not even bought our new bed yet, and probably won't until after our Bass Lake vacation.

I am so excited. Ken is once again in the back of the house and I am in charge of the wild children. I think they act more like wild natives when they know daddy is at home but not participating with them or their care. I am just glad it is almost done! whew

It's Sunday!

I am hoping to get carpet this week! They haven't called so if they don't call by tomorrow I will call them and see what is up. I paid on Friday and it was 3-5 business days to get a call from them. Well, there was Monday, and then a Holiday and then Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Ken said I shouldn't even count Monday because it was most likely a Holiday for them as well. So I have at least 3 days down, so maybe the first part of this week they will call me.

The painting is done...for me at least. There are just some last minute touch ups around the moldings and ceilings where the white and color meet and have overlapped or been smudged. Ken will do that. We need to clean the floors too before the carpet gets here as well. Even better news is that Ken and his dad installed all the new windows today so they are in. He has to seal the moldings on them as well, but he said that is a little last minute touch too. IT would be oh so cool to have the carpet in this week too.

We picked up the kids beds from Bergstroms on Saturday and the boxes are huge. We can't unload them and assemble them until the carpet is in, so the boxes are in the livingroom in front of the couches (the room with the air conditioner). Gosh my house is a mess and a half. We have shit piled everywhere. The good thing is that we should have a place for this shit when the rooms are done. SO close---it's like that saying...so close, yet so far away. I almost can't wait.

It's Wednesday, but thinking it's Monday

I hate weekday Holidays LOL Anyway, my in laws asked to take Jack today at 9:30 and then they will pick up Aunica at school at 12:30. Then I will pick them up at 1:30 or 2 from there. That means I get from 9:30 to 1:30/2 all by myself. I have been going over and over in my mind what to do. I could do so many things...ahhhhh! I think I will go for a haircut, order the kids beds, drop by Old Navy to spend a gift card, and go by Party City to see if they have Strawberry Shortcake stuff for Aunica's birthday party. It isn't until August 19th, but really that isn't too far away considering we will be gone most of the 1st part of August for vacations and I need to get invites out. House repairs and remodeling also takes up a lot of time. So I figure I should just look and see when I have the time---with no kids LOL

Last night I painted while Ken watched TV with the kids. I figured he should get a little bit of a vacation on his day off. We took the kids swimming at my sisters house earlier in the day and he had a great time splashing around with the kids. I got the hall linen closet 1st coat on and also primered over a little of Aunica's pink closet because there were marks that you could see through the color. I will put another pink coat back on tonight after the kids are in bed.

In more news, Aunica started swimming yesterday. I mean really swimming. We took off her life jacket and she took off swimming. Face in water and everything. She put on her goggles and just did it. Now we call them her magic goggles :) Jack decided if Aunica could do it so could he so he took his jacket off and jumped in...just about sank to the bottom. We had to bring him to the surface. He needs some work in the kicking feet area still. Anyway, we all had a great 4th of July.

Painting Still

Today Ken and his dad are working on the 2nd coat on the hall and our room. I think after that they will be done for the day. It is already 10:35 and SO hot already. I don't think the paint is supposed to be applied on days hotter than 90 degrees. I don't think it will get that hot, but the poor guys are so hot already. We can't open the hall door to get the air conditioning to them because Jackman is a maniac and would be all over the wet paint. I am waiting for the sun to dry the grass a little more so I can get to mowing the back 40. It is so tall and it needs to be cut. There is a small section that is way lower than the rest, and it took me awhile to figure it out. Then this morning I saw Charlie chowing down...if he could just eat faster and everyday, we wouldn't need to mow at all LOL

So our plan of having all the painting done by Monday is not working out but hopefully it will be done by the next playdate. I mean it kinda has to because that carpet is going to be installed soon and it has to be done before that. Anyway, it is coming along nicely. I love that we have so much color in the house, but I am nervous about how I will like the colors tomorrow and next week...Can I live with this much color? I grew up in this house and we NEVER had anything on the walls but Navajo white. The kitchen and bathroom were the only rooms with color. Of course I can say now that I could have gone with more jewel tone colors but I like what we have for now. I don't think I could ever convince DH to paint again (any time soon at least).

I am off to the grocery store later in the afternoon for the weeks groceries and some stuff for the holiday BBQ. I am also going to buy some candy for the kids for the movie we are seeing tomorrow with our playgroup friends. I will be buying drinks and popcorn at the movies though (well at least for the kids) and hopefully the food will keep them still during the movie. They were pretty good when we went to see Ice Age 2 Meltdown. I am excited to see The Wild...but I can't wait to see Cars!

Saturday Stuff

Well, the kids and I left the house this morning for a bit so Daddy and grandpa could get some work done. We went to the mall and of course had to get a pretzel and lemonade from Auntie Anne's and then what is a trip to the mall without a stop at the Disney Store. I swear, mommy is a big ol pushover. They each got this new backpack/lunchbox combo where the lunchbox actually snaps to the backpack so you don't have to hold both. Aunica got Tinkerbell and Jack got Buzz Lightyear (suprise huh? LOL) and then Aunica got a Aurora doll and Jack got a Buzz Lightyear bath set that came with Emporer Zurg and the alien guy and the spaceship. Jack is napping with the Buzz right now.

We got home and Jack went down for a nap and Ken had me start rolling paint on the walls while he and grandpa were doing the edges around the ceilings and moldings. I just finished rolling the walls and now the guys are working on the hall. That room really isn't big enough for all of us to be working in there and Jack should be up soon. Aunica has spent her time playing Shrek Operation, Don't break the Ice, chutes and ladders and singing to her audience of dollies. That girl has always been great at keeping herself occupied. I hope Jack is like her in that respect. The schedule is again changed a bit. It is taking longer to do the 1st coats so the hall and our room will not get the 2nd coat until tomorrow and we had planned to do both coats today, but that isn't going to happen. So things are all pushed back a bit, but I hear that my BIL and his girlfriend are coming tomorrow to help so maybe things will progress faster. By this time next week I hope to have it all done, carpet in and windows here ready for installation!!!
